Dispatch from the Farm: Meet Adriana, Belcampo Ranch Hand

Adriana has worked at Belcampo since 2019. As a fourth-generation rancher, she’s well equipped for the demanding and varied day-to-day of ranch life – and her job as a ranch hand keeps her busy with everything from caring for mother and baby calves to mending fences to irrigating pastures.

We sat down with this busy rancher to ask her a few questions!

HOW DID YOU GET INTO RANCHING?

I am a fourth-generation rancher here in Siskiyou County. My father grew up on a dairy farm, Scala Dairy, and has been a ranch manager my entire life. Being raised in agriculture, I always knew my life would revolve around the industry. I am lucky enough to own my own herd of beef cattle and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. The lifestyle is one that is hard to beat – and can be very humbling at times.

The best part about my job is that every day brings something different. From feeding cattle during winter months to branding, irrigating, dragging fields, building fences and many other tasks, the sense of accomplishment is what I look forward to. Seeing the hard work put in pay off is a one-of-a-kind feeling.

WHY IS SUSTAINABLE & REGENERATIVE FARMING IMPORTANT TO YOU?

Regenerative farming is the only true way we can be sustainable stewards of the land. To care for not only the animals we raise, but the land we raise them on, is how we can provide a quality product that can be sustained year after year. With the world we live in today, and the disconnect people have with where their food comes from, I feel that sustainability is the only way to prove to people this is an industry worth fighting for.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE BELCAMPO MEAL OR PRODUCT?

I am a big fan of basically all our steak cuts, but I like the Ribeye the best. The marbling is perfect, and each bite is tender and delicious!
